Pirate 101 download9/13/2023 KI: You would think, having done it once for Wizard101, it would be copy pasta – right? Well, we did have a leg up on things by going through the process once, however, MMOs are just BIG games with a ton of code. I know that when I’m looking for a new game, my first stop is Steam, so we’re excited to have Pirate available there.Īre there any specific challenges in migrating Pirate101 to Steam? Steam is a wonderful game interface and community resource, we’re very excited to use this platform to expand Pirate’s community. With gamigo’s acquisition of KingsIsle in 2021, we got the opportunity to take a fresh look at Pirate development and decided last year that the work was worth the potential. Wizard101 took a bit more work than we expected to get there, so we decided to wait and see if the effort to do so for Pirate101 would be worthwhile. KingsIsle: When we brought Wizard101 to Steam in 2018, the goal was always to bring Pirate101 soon after. When did you first decide to bring Pirate101 to Steam? We talked with Leah Ruben (Senior Studio Director), Mike Sears (Senior Narrative Designer), and Dominic La Maison (Designer), about this exciting news for Pirate101. Recently, the team announced the official release date for Pirate101 on Steam: May 31, 2023! Alongside this Steam version launch comes a new update featuring the second chapter of the Sinbad story and more. * the sun rises about the horizon an hour later, and it doesn't get properly dark, so I don't think it really qualifies as a sunset.Pirate101, a fun pirate-themed MMORPG from KingsIsle Entertainment, released in 2012 and it’s still sailing strong today. You see - even though time off makes you immerse yourself in the present, it has a distinct effect on how you view the future. I also predict that they'll use the USA's concept of vacation (two weeks at most, if you're lucky), rather than the Finnish one (a month, at least). I'm going to put my neck out, and suggest that at some point the social media platforms are going to implement a "I'm on a break" button, where they don't punish you for going on leave. In the meantime - here's a futurist's prediction for social media: formalized holiday breaks. Social media like LinkedIn, on the other hand, decides that any dereliction of duty shall and must be punished with a reduction in impressions and all the other Skinnerian rewards they use to keep us hooked into the system. We're having a great time - thanks for asking!Īnd so here I am with the sun pretending to set* over the Gulf of Bothnia, being eaten alive by mosquitoes. I took a break from #socialmedia, #blockchain, #smartcontracts, and all the other stuff I work on to go on vacation in northern Finland with my family. I hope they inspire many others to follow in their footsteps □ They are proving that it's possible to preserve the environment, support rural areas, and give NZ a foothold in the new economy, all while running a sustainable business. That's why I'm a big fan of guys like Simon and his team at .nz, who are pioneering sustainable bitcoin mining down in Te Waipounamu. But with a long-term vision, it's a no-brainer we have no other options. Yes, it can often be unreliable and costly compared to fossil fuels. I hope we can take a leaf out of Iceland's book with #renewableenergy in Aotearoa. I loved seeing all the bitcoin memorabilia scattered around their office - vintage Casascius coins (unsealed, of course), posters, decommissioned ASIC miners, and even bitcoin-themed coasters. They run one of the largest bitcoin mining companies in Iceland, which, thanks to the local power grid, boasts an impressive 100% renewable energy sourcing □□□ ![]() It was a pleasure meeting Daniel, Kristjan, and Tryggvi at the GreenBlocks headquarters this last week.
